EAM

Introduction to External Asset Management

The Development of EAM

Private banking originated in Geneva, Switzerland, in the 16th century and flourished in 18th-century Britain, largely thanks to the impact of the Industrial Revolution. Over several centuries, under the influence of the United States on the global financial economy, the private banking sector has thrived worldwide.

EAM (External Asset Manager), translated as “external asset manager,” originated in Europe in the 1990s. It emerged when bankers, after leaving private banks, began offering higher‑quality services to ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients, either individually or as teams. As a third‑party platform, EAM serves as an investment‑management team for affluent clients, saving them considerable time and effort that would otherwise be spent navigating financial institutions, while also addressing their wealth‑management concerns.
